Since the Black Panthers thought of themselves as superior and better than whites, whites obviously did not like the party. The Black Panthers believed African-Americans should own their own businesses, be high up in authority, and overall create their own society away from the whites.
The Black Panthers did not last as long as expected, from 1966 to the 1980's. Eventually, the party split up due to many difficulties and arguments between the Black Panthers. Certain members of the party wanted to participate in local government and social services while other members still wanted to revolt against the government. The others wanted to keep constant conflict between them and the police. The disagreements between the members of the party eventually resulted in violence within the group and the death of four members of the party. Gradually, the Black Panther Party began to fade and become less problematic in a society and less noticeable.
Today, the Black Panther Party still exists and his now known as the New Black Panther Party. The New Black Panther Party was found in 1989 in Dallas, Texas where it still stands today with members believing the same as the original Black Panther Party.
